About Downtown Thunder

Welcome to Downtown Thunder!

We are a group of small, local business owners and employees that are dedicated to making our community a better place through charitable donations and acts. We all came together from our mutual love of classic cars, bikes, and events. Dino said from our first event, we want anything cool that goes down the road. Downtown Thunder formed in Petersburg, VA to bolster businesses in the Old Towne area and give other enthusiasts a cool place to show off their toys.

That was back in 2018…

and we have grown from the small groups that started to thousands of people coming to show off cool rides, enjoy live music from great local bands, and ultimately help raise money to give back to our local community and support small business owners. We have now had events in Petersburg, Hopewell, and Price George, though it won’t stop there!

We have been able to help in many ways with donations to Prince George Volunteer Company 1, Hopewell Police Department, Jordan’s Smile, Chad Wiggins, and the Cox family in honor of our fallen brother; just to name a few.

As we grow our events and develop our sponsorship, we will be able to spread our charity to others in need.

Our board of directors is composed of Dino Lunsford (founder), Bill Lunsford, Cory Wiggins, and Alex Cvrk. Dino Lunsford is the owner of DF Lunsford Construction, along with many other ventures. Bill Lunsford is the owner of Four Corners Flooring based out of Hopewell, VA. Cory Wiggins is the owner of Harrison Appliance in Dinwiddie, VA. Alex Cvrk is a U.S. Army veteran that has been working in locally-owned restaurants and bars. Lastly, Roy Cox was one of our original board members until he passed in September of 2020. Roy was larger than life, and someone that would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, assuming he was wearing a shirt. Every year we will host an annual memorial event in Roy’s honor where proceeds and donations will go towards something he was passionate about.
